different PC and Macintosh Operating Systems

PC stands for Personal Computer and refers to any IBM-compatible computer. The term PC comes from the first personal computer made by IBM.

Macintosh refers to any computer produced by Apple Computer.

PCs are much more customizable. Almost every PC is extremely modular, allowing parts to be switched out and upgraded one at a time, whereas all but the most expensive Macs are all-in-one devices, meaning that they must be upgraded all at once.

The Relationship between an Application program, the operating system and hardware

An operating system acts as an interface to the other application program.
It is a software that acts as an interface between you and the hardware.

It is a translator between user and computer hardware.

A Description of the Boot Process

Boot Process is a bootstrapping process that starts operating systems when the user turns on a computer system. A boot sequence is the initial set of operations that the computer performs when power is switched on.

The Functions of a Computer Operating System

Operating system  is software, consisting of programs and data, that runs on computers and manages the computer hardware and provides common services for efficient execution of various application software. It is the core software component of your computer. It performs many functions and is, in very basic terms, an interface between your computer and the outside world.

OH+S considerations in the use of computer equipment.

DO

The power supply should be earthed properly.
DON'T
try to sit up straight
lift your shoulders when typing or clicking the mouse
collapse your neck as you read the screen
